Galaxy Benchmark

Compiled galaxy measurements for the BGS summary statistics pipeline benchmark. Each entry records the cosmological convention, sample selection, and — where available — tabulated data in a standard FITS schema for direct comparison with pipeline outputs.

Selection criteria: publications since 2000; citation count > 100 on NASA ADS (recent DESI, Euclid, and JWST papers excepted); data publicly available (VizieR, journal supplement, GitHub, or Zenodo).

Description

Galaxy Luminosity Functions

24

0 – 5

Galaxy luminosity functions in r, B/bJ, K, UV, and multiband. Methods: 1/Vmax, STY, SWML. Surveys: 2dFGRS, VVDS, SDSS, GAMA, DEEP2, VIPERS, COSMOS.

Stellar Mass Functions

12

0 – 12

Galaxy stellar mass functions with Schechter parameters and FITS data. Includes PAC method (DESI Y1) and JWST constraints (COSMOS-Web).

Galaxy Clustering

60

0 – 1.5

Projected wₚ(rₚ), angular w(θ), redshift-space multipoles ξ(s), power spectrum P(k) and P(k). Surveys: 2dFGRS, SDSS, WiggleZ, BOSS, eBOSS, DESI.

Weak Gravitational Lensing

16

0.05 – 1.0

Galaxy-galaxy lensing ΔΣ(R) from SDSS to DESI. Includes Lensing Without Borders cross-survey validation and the “lensing is low” effect.

Cosmic Shear

10

0.1 – 1.5

Stage-III cosmic shear S8 constraints from KiDS-1000, DES Y3, and HSC Y3. All surveys find S8 ~ 3σ below Planck 2018.
